So most people don't lose respect, because they know that either the guys sold the guild, or aren't going to use it any more.
great point, and honestly, the people joining the guilds are the true idiots.

my question to you all is: if you were the leader of a top ranked guild (cape trimmed guild) would you sell invites to random people? (the average price is 100k to a former #1 tourney winner or w/e)

i for one wouldn't send invites to random pve newbs that have no idea what balanced means. i compare this to whoring you and your guildies out for pixel money.. but this is just my opinion.

what about you guys?
Nothing wrong with it. Also, there are some pretty good players in eF/DF that I know of (most likely better than you), despite most being PvErs.

first of all, theres no reason to quote my ENTIRE post. we all are posting about the same thing, no reason to clarify.

secondly, i assume you are one of those who have bought their capes seeing as you are defending the guilds so much. i could care less even if they are better than me, thats not the issue. im not sure why 90% of your post is insults, and 10% of it is actually on topic.
In fact, every time i read your post i have to restrain from PMing you further.

@Ekelon: Wouldn't it be more creative to for example hold a cape design contest or something else? If you guys have a fanclub, I'm sure they would love it. The winner of the contest gets the hat collection.

Would be a fun thread on the forums and good for the guild in general.

On topic: didn't even know people are buying them in. Not my cup of tea though.

Anyways, If you are stupid enough to pay 100K to join a guild then you get what you deserve...This whole thread sounds like a scam to me.

wow , 800 bucks buys:
1)horrible rep
2)1000s of pms calling you an idiot for paying for a cape
3)fake money from invites!
hm... doesn't sound just grand? i mean you COULD have spent it on, say, helping starving children or something

Wow I see nothing wrong with it. I mean if someone was going to pay 100k+ for an invite then I'll be damned if I didn't accept.

Then boot 'em after getting the 100k+.... or does that count as a scam?

Well, it's not against the EULA.

But any guild that does it should get zero respect. They earned the cape (or maybe they got it thanks to pro guilds err7'ing); no need to cash in on it from idiots who've probably only ever had 100k.

actually, farin prolly could have had more of it

now the new owner of DF is selling invites for 100k+
later he is going to sell that money for real life money so he makes more cash than he spends. Geuss he's not so stupid after all.

If there are people desperate enough to buy (temp)invites and guild leaders agree why not sell them?

That's funny (about [eF])...[TAM] was in the alliances a couple of weeks ago.
And trust me, none of them were good as I recall.

Been done many times before. Top guilds were even sold on ebay for $XXX. One of the high ranked guilds was recently sold, and the person who bought it was selling invites for 30k-100k.

Whether or not that is ethical depends who you ask.

I certainly had people offer me as high as 100k to join LOD since we have a long waiting list; I am glad to say I have never charged anyone for an invite.

Someone wants to pay 100K for a screenie that says, "I paid 100K for something I didn't earn." Big deal. Let them do it.

Gold trim is permanent. A permanent trim can't be offered and then taken away, simple as that.

Selling trim for in-game gold dilutes your own 'mark of achievement', but that's largely irrelevant if the guild is dead already. I'd still prefer to park such a guild, but whatever. It's kind of funny that people are so keen to make in-game money at this stage of the game. What are you going to buy with it? Another neon shield? Sweet tooth title? Talk about achievement lol.

Selling for real money is against the EULA, as far as I know.
